Why It Matters,” By Chris Mentillo
“WHY IT MATTERS”
I am a law-abiding citizen committed to navigating life’s challenges with integrity and resilience. I strive to live as a compassionate individual—one who would readily offer help and support to others in need, often at personal cost.
Throughout my life and career, I have faced numerous high-stakes situations where I placed myself in harm’s way to protect what matters. These experiences have shaped me into a survivor, someone who has confronted life-and-death struggles and emerged stronger. My primary focus remains supporting my family, friends, and the various organizations, affiliations, and communities I belong to. Those who know me understand my unwavering dedication to their well-being and my readiness to defend them.
I am not a violent person. On the contrary, I deeply value peace, harmony, and mutual respect. Yet, there are those—fortunately few in number—who seem intent on interfering with, undermining, or destroying the progress I have worked so hard to achieve for myself, my loved ones, and the groups I support. These individuals represent values fundamentally opposed to my own: while I seek to build and uplift, they appear driven to tear down.
I recognize I am not alone in this experience. Like many others, I simply want the best possible life for myself and those I care about. Unfortunately, life sometimes delivers unexpected and difficult obstacles—often created or amplified by those with negative intentions—who seek to derail progress, exert control, or diminish success.
What I have observed over recent years is a growing, undeniable force that does not discriminate by wealth, fame, status, or influence. It affects people across all walks of life. While difficult to fully comprehend at times, its reality has become increasingly clear. Those who doubt it often learn its power through direct experience.
The most effective response to this force is straightforward: cease any harmful or negative actions that invite it. Karma, as the saying goes, has a way of balancing the scales. Continuing destructive behavior only perpetuates hardship, while choosing integrity, accountability, and positive change opens the door to genuine prosperity and peace. Once negative patterns are corrected, success and stability tend to follow—provided those patterns are not repeated.
In short, I remain committed to living honorably, protecting what I hold dear, and contributing positively wherever possible—while encouraging others to do the same. By focusing on construction rather than destruction, we create better outcomes for ourselves and those around us.
